29 Hours 13 Minutes
So after pre-purchasing the collectors edition with the last of my $80 to Gamestop, studying for all of my finals the week that it came out, taking all my finals, going to europe for 2 weeks following the end of school, and picking up this game a couple days after my return...
I have finally finished.
I can go back to videogame forums without fear of spoilers.
This could perhaps be my favorite game of all time.

I have a question for you: Do you think it's vital to play all the Metal Gear Solid games to understand and enjoy the story before you play this game, or would you know what's going on without all of it?
THE MGS STORYLINE IS CONVOLUTED AS ALL HELL; IT REALLY ONLY SHINES DUE TO THE EXECUTION
BUT I ONLY PLAYED MGS
THIS IS ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE
PLAY THE REST OF THEM ANYWAYS
it would be MUCH MUCH better if you played the other ones first
but mgs4 does a good job of explaining what happened in the first 3...
but then again...
ah...
yeah. you wont understand A LOT unless you play the other games...
