Brainless Zombies

My brother wants to be me. Ever since Sierra he has heard my name and seen my A work, whether its been sports or in class. Now, to keep as cool as he thinks I am, he copies everything I say, the news says, and what the tv says. He doesn't have to fully understand what he has heard but it wil be repeated to make him seem cooler but he will do it just for the effect. Now that is peer pressure. Many of us say we don't sucumb to it but they do. Most of it is fine because it doesn't effect your thinking or your health but then their are the decisions that do. The biggies are Obama and drugs. Now before I go on, a lot of people think me a racist. I am not, I am not bashing Obama, I am bashing how people have come to support him and hate Bush. Now. A lot of you are supporting Obama. You site that he has changes. His policies are better. He craps miracles. Prove it. Do your own research and show me his policies. What he voted on in his senate term. What he believes, what his advisors/people believe. (I can hear you looking for it now.) You have found him from what you have heard from someone else. Someone else has told you he craps gold and now you love him. He has sign that says "change" HOLY SHIT HE MADE A SIGN THATA SAID IT MUST BE WHAT HE BELIEVES, IT MUST BE THE SAME CHANGE I WANT. QUICK SEND HIM MY COLLEGE FUND!!!! Have you read his Universal Health Care Plan? Do you know what Universal Health Care is?

You hate Bush for starting a war which we didn't need to be in. Did you know we got false intelligence from Germany? England? You can list all the reasons you hate Bush but there have been worse. You don't put events in Facebook honoring the day he leaves office. You are just letting your ignorance run wild and ruining life for teenagers who are victims of it and get labeled ignorant unrightfully so.

Then with drugs. A lot say that what everyone says are lies and that marijuana harmless. But that they will try it once and never do it again and never sucumb to peer pressure. By doing it once and saying that its not dangerous, isn't that already giving into peer pressure? Couldn't you find something better to do that was just as much fun and not currently illegal? One of my friends just got out of jail three months ago for ex and gun pssesion after beating up a guy at exotic life pet store in Chatsworth and it was his second strike and his life went downhill after trying weed once and finding an unloaded gun with one still in the chamber and shooting his girlfriend in the foot and calling her father laughing. He rushed over to the house where she wasn't supposed to be and they both had come down and had no clue what had happened and said it was attemtped murder but it was assualt and he went to jail. It only takes one.

Make your own fucking decisions!

I GET WHERE YOU'RE COMING FROM, MAN, BUT IT TAKES A LOT OF VIGILANCE AND CONSCIOUS EFFORT NOT TO BE SWAYED BY THE MEDIA. I MEAN, THAT'S THEIR JOB. MAKING SURE YOU BELIEVE WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO BELIEVE.

THE LEGALITY OF MARIJUANA ISN'T AN ISSUE, BESIDES POSSIBLY MAKING IT MORE ATTRACTIVE TO IMPRESSIONABLE TEENAGERS. REDUCING THE ENTIRETY OF MARIJUANA USAGE INTO A SINGLE HORROR STORY AND THEN EXTRAPOLATING A GENERALIZATION OF THE WHOLE IS A FALLACY. I BELIEVE IT'S A LIFE CHOICE THAT SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH RESPONSIBILITY, SUCH AS ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION OR THAT OF GREASY FOOD.

SHORT TERM EFFECTS OF LIGHT USAGE: SO HEY THIS FEELS ALRIGHT

LONG TERM EFFECTS OF HEAVY USAGE: OH LOOK AT YOU BROKEN, BATTERED SHELL OF A MAN

FEEL FREE TO POINT OUT FALLACIES, I'M WARMING UP TO THIS WHOLE 'RATIONAL DEBATE' SHEBANG

Or maybe I actually have done the research and think Bush is terrible and Obama is good.

But it is too early in the morning for me to go into a heavy political discussion.

Henry-
I actually believe Jeremy's analysis on the dangers of marijuana was correct. Jeremy did NOT suggest that a single usage of marijuana will destroy a person 100% of the time. He merely pointed out it's possible that marijuana can ruin the user's life, and that possibility is present whether the person is using it for the first time or the thousandth time. Marijuana is an illegal substance because it has the potential to turn a human being into the "broken, battered shell of a man" you described; that broken, battered shell of a man started with just one joint.

And it's very hard to handle marijuana usage with "responsibility" because it's an uninhibitor, meaning that while using it, people feel they need not adhere to their responsibilities.

aaaah....

hoo boy.

While I may not agree with almost any of what this post says, I think it is an interesting post nonetheless and its nice to hear the other side of the argument.

So I thank you, Jeremy, for posting this. And while I've just spent the last 20 minutes researching legalization of marijuana and its original illegalization as well as opposing arguments and the numerous medical studies that NEGATE any argument against "harmful" effects of marijuana, it is rather early in the morning for me to build up a substantial point.

I may write something later though.

And hey man I like Obama. If you disagree with some of his policies, whatever. No candidate will ever perfectly embody your personal political agenda. And while it remains a vague term, he actually sincerely does offer "change" to the country.

After growing up in this globally-hated nation without being able to remember a time when the majority LIKED a president of ours... I would welcome Obama's changes with open arms.

And please dont reply to this with "WELL WHAT CHANGES SPECIFICALLY DURR DURR"

the change is that we have a liberal fucking president.

who makes liberal changes.

and makes our country just a little more friendly with the rest of the god damn planet.

I want to live in a country where I LIKE the person who leads me, and i can agree with what he is doing to better the nation and the world. I dont want to nit-pick every little flawed detail in his agenda.

Unless of course, you want 8 more years of war, ignorance, and global hatred.

But in all honesty, marijuana should be legalized.

What, its true.

If not legalized, it should be at least decriminalized.

I think what Jeremy meant is that Obama hasn't actually proposed that much in the way of actual change. But yes, his policies are quite a bit different than those of our current president. And it's very unlikely that he has ever choked off a pretzel or fallen off a Segway.

While I'm quite displeased with Mr. GW Bush, I do not feel that a president should be elected solely by the merit that he is a liberal. ...Sure, this belief of mine might have something to do with my being a Republican and agreeing with some Republican policies. But I think it has more to do with the fact that I have a distrust of all politicians, and for the last two years the democrats' congressional majority has done very little to assuage my distrust.

With all that said, however, I actually like Obama and care very little for McCain. For one thing, Obama has the physiological capability of smiling like a normal human being, which is a trait that Senator McCain apparently does not possess. I like Obama a lot because in him I sort of see the next JFK- no no, i don't mean "HE'S GON' GET ASSASSINATED." I mean that he's a fantastic orator and a wise man, and one day he might very well be able to unite the country and make America a nation that we can all be proud of.

yeah thats what i meant.

also, legalize that shiz

As for the marijuana debate... I've done some research, and what I've concluded is that there IS no conclusion among the scientific community. We could probably spend the whole summer break launching medical studies at each other like stones out of HTML-based trebuchets, but I think that's an activity I'll abstain from.

And so is marijuana usage, for that matter. Because although I understand the argument that people should be allowed to choose whether to smoke pot, I do not damn well intend to risk my 4.2 or whatever chance I've got at success for drug-induced pleasure. Because, ignoring the health benefits or consequences or whatever, marijuana is an illegal drug right now and getting caught with it can ruin a student's potential.

SMOKING MARIJUANA LEADS TO SHOOTING PEOPLE AND OTHER MUCH WORSE DRUGS, AS OPPOSED TO DEEPER ISSUES THAT GENERALLY LEAD TO SUCH BEHAVIOR

SMOKING MARIJUANA MAKES YOU A CRAZED, UNHEALTHY, VIOLENT HUMAN BEING

Wait what the hell is going on?

Is someone trying to impersonate Henry... impersonating me? And Henry is unsure of the facetiousness of his remark?

Or are they both Henry, with a connected thought, both targeted at me?

Because I honestly can't tell.

By 11 PM 18 comments I clearly did my Job.

Now, if you have watched the news lately and I specifically quote liberal media King CNN-

Obama has done what any canidate does and moved towards the center after the primaries to try to please the independent. However he has done it quicker and made his policies more "Bushesque."

Now you do not choose a President just because you hated the last one. You choose a president based on the ripples created by the last one and where you want the ripples to continue you to.

Now to the drugs. If i searched any topic in the interweb i could find a million things that said yes and a million to say no. For my migraines I take pills which I rate ohn a scale for the types of migraines I get. The most severe pills apparently give the same effects as drugs. It is a rush but then you lose control. You cant walk talk and where people around you think its funny it is your brain shutting down. Anyways drugs are illegal for now and here is a site that is good and im sure you have seen the commercials.

Burningham17 said...

Am I the only one who has no idea what Jeremy just said?

Anonymous said...

dude... not every "drug" has the same effects on someone. You're thinking of speed or coke or ex dude. those are fucking illegal drugs. Marijuana is an illegal medicine.
