Beta Footage

Plus, the new gears maps are pretty cool.

Process: Eh it's alright... visually the map is beautiful and deep. as far as immersive gameplay or innovation goes, there arent really any environmental tricks it has up its sleeve. still can be fun tho.

Garden:
A small map but can be fun. Operatable gas chambers are included. It's alright.

Subway: Very fun art style. Interesting map; combat can occur both above and below ground, as well as some sweet sniping from above TO below. large staircases. Shadowy areas. fuun stuff :-)

Bullet Marsh: My favorite of all the maps. Dark, Dingy, Rainy, filled with personality. A looong bridge in the middle with snipable views. The alternate route is a circular trench that leads to a torque. the fun twist on this map is the existence of 2 destructible generators located on 2 sides of the map. once destroyed, the power for a portion of the map will be knocked out, blacking out the lighted areas and thus leading passerby kryll right to you. Very fun map.

LOL. I like how I get harassed for calling a blog good or bad ("rating" it) and then you go and review maps you haven't even played. Huh.

Anyhoo, I just have to say (and I'm probably going to get raped by someone around here for saying it) that Halo 3 in its beta form isn't quite graphically up-to-par with what gamers expect nowadays.

The player, weapon, and vehicle models are nice, but some of the environment textures look very... painted on. I guess we can assume Bungie will fix it before the release of H3, but Halo 3 still probably won't have graphics that are as amazing as Gears or Crysis. (Also, if anyone wants to come barging around yammerin' about the Wii as some kind of a response to that argument, don't bother. No one buys the Wii looking for better graphics.)

With that said, the Halo series isn't about great graphics (even though it has them); it's about fun, fluid, fast-paced gameplay, and any game engine that keeps that going is going to be very, very mind-bendingly successful.

LOL whoops. I guess I could have googled "process 360" or something and figured that out. Huh. Well, I guess I screwed myself on that one.

Well, the point still kinda-sorta-not-so-much stands. People read blogs and play maps, but they don't really care about people blogging about maps. No one's going to read a review of a map and then make a big deal out of it.
