Personally, I enjoyed it. I walked out of the movie feeling a little disappointed, but now as I look back, I really liked it. It remained very true to the book and the parts they did change/omit didn't bother me. There were some really solid scenes (jail scene) and a few shitty ones (worst sex scene I have seen in awhile) and it dragged on in parts, but overall I do not regret waiting 4 hours in line to see it.
P.S. Bubastis was cute.

Lol guys. Edwards was still selling tickets for 10:30 at like 10 on Friday. Plus, there was no line.
I really enjoyed it. The ending didn't make logical sense but it was better than a giant squid clone with an implanted psychic brain set to explode in waves once teleported.

DID YOU NOTICE THE LITTLE SQUIDS ALL OVER THE PLACE THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE!!! I SHAT MY PANTS.
For those who still haven't seen it: you'll enjoy it if you read it; you'll be frustrated if you haven't.

I think the movie was just about the most faithful rendition possible within the constraints of the genre. It's obviously much more appreciable to fans as homage to the novel as opposed to a standalone piece of film. As a film, I feel it was cast excellently (particularly Dreiburg, Rorscach) and very meaty when it came to action sequences. Seeing it in IMAX was like being slapped lightly in the face with a wet rag with every blow. 9/10 would watch again (do not watch if you haven't read)
I agree with all of you.
The alien would have confused and infuriated moviegoers who had never heard of the story.
although I thought the sex scene was GREAT and I do not think lucas should promote himself as leading authority on sex scenes, in which case he should see Underworld 2 (that thing is some sexy shit right there)
parts in the middle dragged a tiny bit but because I knew what was coming, I was excited the entire film. The infamous scenes were done SO WELL.
Could not have picked out a better soundtrack myself. Acting was fabulous, as well.

Everyone agrees that that sex scene was shitty.
I actually talked to some people who hadn't read it and they said they actually enjoyed it a lot. They also said they knew about the squid in the comic and that it would not fit for them. Maybe because we read it we don't know what we're talking about in terms of if you haven't read it don't see it.
1. why the fuck didn't you guys just see it at a normal time on like sunday when there is no line and many available seats?
2. please explain to me what was bad about the sex scene.
