Greatest Game in the History of the Galaxy

I just beat Mass Effect...in...15 hours. How sick is that? Its one of the greatest games I've ever played and i seriously think anyone with an Xbox 360 should definitely buy or at least rent this game and the sequels that we all know are coming. Srsly, its the greatest game ever

Holiday Heroes

No this not to rave about how Heroes on NBGaspin was awesome, well, because the show is a steaming pile of crap. NO this to recognize the heroes of the holidays who when in times of need they are there to defend the needy and weak. So come and sit on ole' Granpappy's knee, I promise I wont bite, court says I can't do that anymore, and hear the tale of a young boy and how he grew up to fight his father and the empire to save the universe. No that isn't the story either. Our hero is........... Max Gaspin's Xbox 360.

Just when you thought you couldn't deal with another Halo 3 map that didn't make any sense or just had crap exploding everywhere. It decided "enough is enough, I'm tired of these mother fucking maps on this mother fucking game" and with that it posted a message that said "FUCK YOU" and then preceded to explode, wiping out everything in three mile radius and poisoning thousands with radiation poisoning. Since then we all have been rejoicing as the four new maps have been untouched by his evil hands (GOD KNOWS WHERE ELSE THEY HAVE ROAMED), and we have played a-many matchmaking games and Gears games with grenades and more than two maps.

So heres to you Gaspin's Xbox! Without you we would all be in a living hell my people don't believe in.

well looks like i join sam in the elite club of achievement 100%ers. tonight i finally got my very last achievemtn for skate, which if you dont know, is quite a good game. actually sam isnt in this club anymore because of the new brass balls bioshock achivement (whoever made that shit should get fired. beat the game on hard without using a vitachamber??? wtf?!?) but w/e.


anyways who here has the new halo maps? theyre pretty damn good, the main one ive been playing around with is foundry which is so awesome in forge. ive made a sick king of the hill variant but i have no one to play it with yet. id reccommend buying them.

well i guess thats all. oh before i post id like to say kata, dude i feel for you. i know everybody flames you here, and i just want you to know that whatever you do, dont bring a gun to school. please, you seem like the guy thatd pull a columbine, and please, talk to somebody if you feel he urge to shoot up your school. please dont.

Orange Box 360 Review

While most of you have played through the Orange Box’s five games on the PC, I think I am the first member in G.S. to pick it up for 360. While it may be just a port, there are some major differences regarding the two versions. I will explain them now.

(Before I begin I will say I’ve beaten Portal on 360 and Half-Life 2 on PC and only experimented with TF2 on 360. I haven’t dug into Episode 1 or 2 so I will only focus on technical aspects of the game. We all know its good.)

So with a high end PC downstairs with a better connection why would I get it on Xbox 360? Well after getting Half-Life 2 (game of the year edition) on PC about two years ago and beating it I decided to pick up O.B. on 360 for a few reasons.

Mainly, I just like controllers more than keyboards and mouse. In a game like Portal however, there were a few levels where I was begging for the preciseness of a mouse though, mainly because the game is all about aiming perfectly once you get the puzzles figured out. After beating Portal though I moved onto HL2 for a third playthrough (first two on PC). While HL2 is by all regards a PC game, for me it feels so much better with a controller. Not only am I significantly better at it, but elements like vehicles (which are a major part of HL2’s story mode) and platforming work better with a thumbstick than a WASD combination. I was able to move at a speed I wanted rather than full throttle which is what you get by pressing down W. Switching weapons is also a lot easier with a D pad as well.

The 360’s version’s graphics are not as good as it’s PC counterparts, and its weird to see my exploits as Gordon Freeman on a TV but for me these are very redeeming qualities. Along with these, I just enjoy using my 360 a lot more than my PC. Installation, patches, folders, blah. I’ve had a pet peeve for installations since my first Flight Simulator game- so I think we can all agree, putting a disc into a disc tray and playing it instead of waiting is a lot nicer. Also on my PC I am not an administrator so I have to log into my dad’s account for installing and yada yada yada.

And finally achievements. Not for boosting my gamerscore, but being able to compare progress in the game with people on my friends list is so well developed it really does define the experience of Xbox Live. On PC I could compare with you guys, but with games like Guitar Hero 3, Halo 3, Assassin’s Creed, and Skate on my 360, I’m usually not on Steam that much anymore.

Orange Box is still a great game on PC, and after being away from HL2 for so long, it does really prove that, in fact, Half Life 2 is the best game of all time.

Alright so due to some sort of mailing error, I have an extra copy of each of the last 4 or 5 Game Informer issues. This is (in my opinion) the greatest game magazine out there, and THOSE ISSUES CAN BE YOURS.

As you all know I am a huge sports nut especially hockey. I subscribe to many sports magazines and my home page is six different sports websites. So while I was scanning them I found something very interesting. The top NHL players will make more money than top NFL players. True T.O., Brady, and L.T.(Look 'em up you scruffy headed nerfherders) do make more money. The average top-tier NHLer will make more money. Why? Due to the recent Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in the NHL players can not have options and can not sign extensions unless in the last year of a multi-year contract or a one-year contract after Jan 1. This allows players to build up stats and sign multiple contracts for decent amounts of money or a long term contract for great money. That is even with a 24% rollback in salary maximum. So how does Daniel Alfredsson, no you don't know who he is, what about Jaromir Jagr, still no? ah fuck it. The top three salaries in the NHL are Danny Briere, C Phily, Thomas Vanek, LW and Scotty Gomez C Rangers, all worth 10 million this year. Same as T.O. Again why?

Football team has 50+ members who play 16 games and and a max of 4 playoff games while NHLers play 82 games with a minimum of four playoff games and a max of 28 and a max roster of 23. So next time you look at T.O.'s 10 million dollar dance think about the NHLer who works for that money or Ottawa Captain DannyAlfredsson who lost 14 million dollars because he saved the game he loved by agreeing to the new CBA.

Game or Sport (Read the whole thing, I NO ITS LONG)

I sat in my room watching Sportscenter and making trades in Fantasy Football, as usual, after a rousing night of Halo 3ing. As I sat there I thought, is video gaming a sport and has sports turned into a video game for fans? One afternoon I was playing with a guy named Glamorous. We were playing territories on Last Resort and he was shouting go two go two. Well no one was capturing two for there was a Brigadier guarding it. Glam was pissed and yelling and we all said it was just a game calm down. He mentioned the best players enter tournaments and win money. There are international tournaments where players make $1,000 per game and split a $10,000 pot if they win. You can also purchase lessons from these pros starting at $100/hr in any game. Now with the Xbox 360 there are achievements. There is a point system with the achievement system. As you know I am fond of my points. Now u can rank players on stats by games played number of achievements, and difficulty. Clans are teams and their respective battles and tournaments are schedules.

In terms of sports there is fantasy everything now. I personally run a Fantasy Hockey and Football league and may start a Baseball league in the spring. You draft players and pick who to start on your roster and based on how they do in real life you get points. You compete against other teams, can trade, drop and pick up players, there is waivers, there is a trade deadline, in some leagues there is a salary cap, and in hockey you can even put players on Injured reserve and pick up a player to take his empty roster spot. Sports have not only put out there own video games but now u can play for free or pay and win money and even get a ring. In NHL 08 on the boards, are actual companies that make sticks and equipment.

The NBA and NHL all-star votes are online now and both are being sponsored by NBA 2k8 and NHL 2k8 respectively. NFL stars sponsor players who wear their jerseys and play as their teams in the Madden Tournament every Year. Even when we play we Deng gets picked last as if we were playing kickball at recess, but instead we're picking based on the strategy we use on the map and the mode we are playing. So I pose this question, knowing full well which came first, are video games, sports or are sports, games?
